The Freshers Day Celebration on 8th Nov 2013
The School of Planning & Architecture of JNIAS celebrated the “Fresher’s Day” for the new batch of 70 students which was grandly organized and hosted by the students of second year B.Arch. The Fresher’s Day celebration was not only meant for fun and noise but also included various competitions in activities like Sketching, Model making, Waste Utilization, Quiz & Debate etc. These competitions were arranged by the faculty of JNIAS for 1 st year students on 6th & 7th Nov 2013 which were a mix of academic, co-curricular and fun activities to showcase the inherent talent of the new comers. The competitions were evaluated and the student’s work was adjudged by external jury members. Special mention is to be made of group activity of creating beautiful objects, artifacts out of waste matter and speaking on a given topic in elocution competition.
The beautiful venue at the Hotel “Moksha” was chosen for the final celebration which started at 11.00 am on November 08, 2013 and attended by all the Students, Staff, Management of SPA.
The talent in singing and dancing both in classical and popular styles was displayed by the first year students. The function became so special that Dr. Swaminadhan, President of SPA, JNIAS took to mike and applauded the performing students and said that they brought new life and colour to the family of JNIAS. Mrs. Sujatha, Registrar, was the jury member along with Prof Pramod S Shinde, Director, SPA. The prize distribution took place at the hands of Dr. D. Swaminadhan, President and Dr.Pramod Shinde, Director, SPA.
In all the competitions, first three prizes were awarded to the best entries and participation certificates were given to all the students who have participated in competitions like Sketching and model making.
Finally the most awaited event was the walk on the ramp in which Mr. Shivanshu Vishal Ojha and Ms. Kavya Chandrika were adjudged as Mr & Ms Fresher respectively.
The surprise event of the day was a group dance performed spontaneously by a few second year students on the request of the first year students and it was a hilarious thanks giving to the event.
The celebration reached its peak with DJ activity in which all the students danced & enjoyed till they were finally exhausted. The Programme was aptly compered by the senior students and supported by Prof. Mrs. K Sarada, HOD and other staff members, Prof. Raj Kumar, Prof. R.Sushmita, Prof. Kirthi Chandra and Prof. R.S Lakshmi.
