About JNIAS

Research Activities :

JNIAS is focused on advance research particularly in the disciplines of Biotechnology, Computer Science and Environment etc.

I. Biotechnology:
JNIAS has developed an advanced biotechnology lab for molecular biology, cell culture, proteomics & biomarkers for establishing biomarkers discovery. The Centre for Biotechnology and Bioinformatics (CBB) of JNIAS is involved in identifying and establishing prognastic markers for certain diseases like cancer, diabetes and cardio vascular diseases. It is also focused on toxico genomics studies and developing genetic susceptibility for environmental pollution like lead toxicity & pesticides.

II. Environment:
Centre for Environment and Climate Change (CECC) of School of Environmental Sciences is working towards developing certain controlling technologies for various pollutants in air water and soil. It is in the process of developing various research projects in the environment area and our ongoing research includes applications of nano particles for controlling various environmental pollutants and to develop waste water treatment technologies.

III. Computer Science and Engineering:
International School of Computer Science and Information Technology (ISCSAIT) is actively engaged in research in Cloud Storage systems and Data engineering.
The ISCSAIT of JNIAS is making efforts to solve some of the issues in cloud data storage systems viz:

  1. Data mining-based replication strategies for cloud data storage systems.
  2. Efficient concurrent file access strategies for cloud data storage systems.
  3. A novel client-side caching technique to improve the performance of cloud data storage systems.

The faculty of ISCSAIT is making efforts to build cloud environment by using the open source software such as OPEN STACK. Also it is planning to use HADOOP and MAPREDUCE framework for building storage clusters for our research work.
Efforts are being made by the teaching and system support members of ISCSAIT to establish the following research laboratories at ISCSAIT, JNIAS.

  • Data Mining Laboratory
  • Data Warehouse Laboratory
  • Aneka Cloud  Laboratory
  • Cloud Simulator Laboratory
  • Private Cloud using Eucalyptus Laboratory
  • Hadoop  Laboratory
